Peninsula Comedy

FAQ

Before you come to a show.

Are Peninsula Comedy shows free?

Most of them. Shows at rooms like Barracuda, The Rail, Blue Oak, the Lariat and Marvin Gardens have had no cover. Ticketed shows go through Eventbrite. The price is printed on every show card. See upcoming shows.

Do I need to reserve a seat for a free show?

No reservation is required, but the rooms are small and the regular shows fill up. Arrive thirty minutes before the start time if you want a table. Barracuda takes dinner reservations before the show; book for 8:40 PM or earlier.

Is there a drink minimum?

No. None of our venues enforce a drink minimum. The shows are free because the bar does well on a night that would otherwise be slow, so ordering something and tipping the comics is how the show keeps going.

What is the age limit?

It depends on the venue, not the show. Bars are 21 and over. Breweries and restaurants may allow minors with an adult. The age policy is listed on each show card when the venue has one. The material is adult.

How long is a show?

Showcases run about ninety minutes with a host, a lineup of comics and a closer. Open mics can run longer.

Who performs?

Working Bay Area comics. Headliners come from the San Francisco Punchline, Cobb's Comedy Club, the San Jose Improv, Comedy Oakland, Rooster T. Feathers and Don't Tell Comedy. Every show is hosted by Emon Dismore. Full lineups are posted on Instagram the week of the show.

Where do I park?

Sky Lounge, Barracuda, DeVine and The Sandwich Spot are downtown, near public garages and a short walk from Caltrain. The Rail, the Lariat and Marvin Gardens have street parking on El Camino Real and Old County Road. Blue Oak and Alpha Acid are in industrial areas with lot parking. Venue details.

Can I get a refund on a ticketed show?

Ticketed shows are sold through Eventbrite and follow the refund policy listed on that event page. If a show is cancelled, Eventbrite refunds automatically.

What if I arrive late?

You can still come in at a free show, but seating will be whatever is left. Please walk in between comics rather than during a set, and keep your phone dark.

How do I get booked on a show?

Come to the open mics. Peninsula Comedy books its showcases from comics who have done time at The Midnight Mic, Already Clocked Out and the Thursday New Talent Showcase. Open mic details.

Can Peninsula Comedy run a show at my bar or restaurant?

Yes. We bring the host, the comics, the sound and the promotion. You provide the room and the bar. There is no cost to the venue for a free show. Book a show.

Do you do private events?

Yes. Corporate events, holiday parties and private parties on the Peninsula and around the Bay Area. Message us with the date, headcount and location. Contact us.
